How to book routine appointments

There are a number of ways to book routine appointments.

  • Visit us at the practice and book in person

If you would like a same-day appointment, it is advisable that you ring up first thing in the morning in order to book it.

Appointment types

We offer a variety of appointments with a variety of clinicians. Here is an overview of them all.

Please consider whether any of the options below would be appropriate for you before booking one of these appointments. These appointments are 10 minute slots with a GP for routine issues. They can be booked on the day or in advance.

Practice Nurse appointments are booked in advance for ongoing management of chronic diseases (such as asthma and diabetes), as well as other services such as cervical smears, sexual health and immunisations.

  • 4YP – sexual health appointments for both registered and non-registered young people between the ages of 13 and 25.
  • Cervical smears (cytology)
  • Childhood immunisations.
  • Chronic disease management, including diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension, coronary heart disease etc.
  • ECGs
  • Emergency contraception
  • Flu and pneumonia vaccinations
  • Sexual health
  • Stitch removal
  • Wound management and dressings
  • Travel immunisations and advice.

Our HCA can see patients for smoking cessation, NHS health checks, dressings, blood samples, teen health checks, and flu and pneumonia vaccinations and ECG's.

Our phlebotomy appointments are for the taking of blood samples, and are generally 10 minute slots.

We offer some emergency slots each day, which are kept free to ensure that any urgent cases can be seen. Please do not use this slot if your problem does not absolutely need to be seen that day.

Home visits are for patients who are housebound or too ill to get to the surgery. If you need a home visit please call as early as you can.

We offer an online service which allows you to book routine GP appointments. It also allows you to order your repeat prescriptions.

Last week [number to be updated weekly] appointments with a clinician were wasted because a patient did not attend and did not cancel.

If you are unable to make it to an appointment that you have booked, please let us know so that we can make the appointment available to another patient.

You can also cancel by contacting reception on 0117 9026751/2.

If you receive appointment reminder text messages, you can cancel by responding to the text with the word ‘CANCEL’.
